THE WIZARD'S WAND ("Hot Rod") ILLUSION
INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO
This classic of magic was marketed many years ago as the "Color-Changing Pen-Knives"; what kids' magic kit did not include the "Paddle"?
This portable, self-contained mini-marvel evolved into the beautiful plastic "Hot Rod" and many variations thereafter, including very clever and baffling routines for the "Color-Changing Pen-Knives". Most magicians today carry some variation of this close-up illusion on their person: in their pocket, or in their lose-up case.
If you've never heard of this effect, or have, but could never master the main move, THIS INSTANT DOWNLOAD IS FOR YOU!

During this five-minute instructional video, you'll learn:
The Move
TWO completely deceptive methods for executing the main illusion of your Wizard's Wand being identical on both sides: THE NOON-NINE (or FORWARD-SIDEWAYS) MOVE, (originated by Gary Ouellet) and the TWO-HANDED MOVE. (Our personal favorite, shown to us years ago by the proprietor of "Eagle Magic" in Minneapolis, MN.)
The Change:
THREE METHODS for executing totally eye-popping and deceptive transformations with your Wizard's Wand: THE HELICOPTER, (our personal favorite for the ease of execution and stunning effect) THE PUSH-THROUGH, (the classic method for changing the "look" of your Wizard's Wand) and "THE SHAKE-UP". (another personal favorite for its shocking and quick effect and ease of execution)
The Magician's Choice:
A clever and easy-to-learn method of subtly forcing the required color on a spectator. No matter what number they call out, you'll always be able to count to the required color.
Kicker finish
A brilliant routine that allows you to hand out to the spectator your Wizard's Wand at the end without revealing the methodology; in fact, they'll be even MORE BAFFLED by this, which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you use! A climax that will floor them.
Make Your Own
These instructions do not include an actual prop, since you can purchase one from your favorite magic dealer: any "Hot Rod", (and its many variations) "Color-Changing Knives", etc., etc. will do.
We do however include some ideas for making your own "Wizard's Wand" from simple and inexpensive Dollar Stores materials. You'll make this illusion YOUR OWN this way!
